At Solar Save Renewables, we recently undertook a project to improve home energy efficiency for a local homeowner in Llandeilo. The property relied on oil-fired central heating and an electric immersion heater, consuming between 7,000 to 8,000 kWh annually. Our goal was to significantly reduce their reliance on grid electricity.
🏡 System Details
• 7.12kWp Capacity (10 Southeast & 6 Northwest Panels)
• Optimal Inverter & Power Optimizers for Efficiency
• All-Black Panels for Seamless Integration with 150-Year-Old Slate Roof
🌳 Environmental Benefits
• Significant Reduction in Grid Dependency
• Promoting Sustainable Energy Consumption
💸 Financial Benefits
• Estimated 9-Year Payback Period
• Strong Return on Investment from Reduced Energy Costs
“I can highly recommend the enthusiasm, passion, and competence of Solar Save Renewables based in Llandeilo, South Wales. 12 years ago, I had a basic solar system installed by others and have been used to generating most of my own electricity and exporting it to Octopus Energy under the old Feed-In Tariff. Although not an expert, I am a competent amateur when it comes to the cost-effectiveness of solar arrays. The time had now come for my parents’ bungalow to have solar installed. They had no EV, no ASHP, and no mains gas for hot water – only oil-fired central heating and an electric immersion heater for hot water. Prior to installation, they imported between 7,000 to 8,000 kWh annually, with daily imports ranging from 30 kWh in winter to 18 kWh in summer. After installation, their daily import has dropped to as low as 6 kWh, a significant improvement. Of the several companies I contacted, Solar Save Renewables was the only one to reply promptly, attend the site visit on time, and offer a thorough assessment. The team was professional, patient with my elderly parents, and communicated well throughout the process. The installation was completed within two and a half days, with minimal disruption. The team cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day, and their work was neat and meticulous. The after-sales service has been equally impressive. Petar, the owner, has followed up regularly to ensure everything is running smoothly. We are very pleased with the system, and I highly recommend Solar Save Renewables. The project was virtually stress-free, and we consider them a trustworthy company.” — Mark Goodwin, Llandeilo Homeowner
Our design included 10 panels facing southeast and 6 panels facing northwest. We carefully selected an optimal inverter for efficient performance and used power optimizers to maximise efficiency for shaded solar panels. Sleek all-black panels were chosen to seamlessly blend with the 150-year-old Welsh slate roof.
After installation, their daily electricity consumption dropped to as low as 6 kWh, significantly reducing their dependence on the grid. The system's orientation effectively manages peak power output, aided by real-time monitoring software that enables swift export activation to Octopus Energy. During sunny days in May, the system generates up to 38 kW, with 10 kWh used onsite and 28 kWh exported. The estimated payback period is approximately nine years, with annual savings ensuring a strong return on investment.
Our customer now generates three-quarters of their previously imported electricity, promoting environmental sustainability while enjoying the economic benefits of their solar system.
