Llangarthginning Farm, located near Carmarthen, in the heart of a serene landscape, is a prime example of sustainable rural development. Comprising three residential properties and a transformed Barn into self-catering holiday accommodation, the farm offers a unique blend of modern amenities and eco-friendly practices.
Solar Save Renewables’ business relationship with the farm owners stretches back over ten years, during this period we have designed and installed various renewable energy and heating technologies. Due to the work we’ve done with the Farm owners before they approached us for this particular job.
The owners wanted to create a self-sufficient rural business and to benefit from the South-facing location of the Barn.
The owners created a space where guests could relax and retreat while minimising their environmental impact. The Barn, once a traditional agricultural structure, was repurposed into self-catering holiday accommodation complete with an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. To power these facilities and the entire Barn, the decision was made to harness the energy of the sun through solar panels.
Solar Save Renewables Ltd, was entrusted with designing and installing a solar power system for Llangarthginning Farm. A 14.4 kW Solar PV system was carefully integrated into the farm's infrastructure. The system comprised a series of photovoltaic panels strategically placed to capture the maximum amount of sunlight throughout the day.
The key highlight of this project was the integration of the Solar PV system with the Barn's amenities. The indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna are now powered by electricity generated from the solar panels. This sustainable energy source provides guests with a unique experience, combining luxury and relaxation with a reduced carbon footprint. The system is designed to supply consistent and efficient power to the Barn, ensuring that guests can enjoy their stay without compromising on comfort or environmental responsibility.
