The Brief:
This is a successful renewable energy project involving the installation of a 5.29kWp integrated in-roof solar photovoltaic (PV) system with battery storage. The project involved a complete renovation of the South elevation of a residential roof in Ammanford, Wales, along with the installation of 13 integrated solar panels. The damaged slates were replaced with integrated Viridian solar panels, providing the homeowner with a dual benefit of energy generation and roof restoration.
The Solution:
Integrated In-Roof Solar PV Installation with Battery Storage, Ammanford, Wales
The project began with a comprehensive assessment of the roof's condition and energy needs. The solution involved the following steps:
Roof Renovation: The damaged slates on the South elevation of the roof were carefully removed and replaced with integrated solar panels. These solar panels were designed to seamlessly blend with the existing roof material, maintaining the architectural integrity of the house. We have decided to use Viridian integrated solar panels as they are compatible with the widest range of slate and tile including special fixings for different batten thickness.
Solar PV Installation: High-efficiency solar panels with a total capacity of 5.29kWp were strategically placed on the roof to optimise energy generation. The integration of solar panels into the roof eliminated the need for additional mounting structures and further improved the visual appeal of the system.
Battery Storage System: To store excess energy generated during the day, a battery storage system was installed. This system allowed the homeowner to store surplus electricity and use it during periods of low solar generation, such as nighttime or cloudy days. The battery storage system also provided a degree of energy independence and flexibility.
