Solar, Battery Storage, Heat Pump & EV Charger
When Keith and Catharine moved to Carmarthen, they had a clear vision for their retirement: a home that was both environmentally friendly and highly cost-effective. They turned to Solar Save Renewables for a complete home energy transformation, combining solar panels, battery storage, an air source heat pump, and an EV charger into a single, seamless system. Their goal was to future-proof their home with a full clean energy system.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a fully integrated system to cover their electricity, heating, hot water, and electric car needs:
- 20 high-efficiency solar panels to generate clean energy from day one
- 16kWh of battery storage (3 batteries) to maximise self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid
- Zappi EV charger for smart, cost-efficient charging of their electric vehicle
- Modern air source heat pump paired with new radiators to replace the old oil heating system
All components were connected and controlled via intuitive apps, allowing Keith & Catharine to monitor and manage their energy use—even remotely while on holiday.
Outstanding Financial & Environmental Results
- Extremely low energy bills: During the summer months, their total electricity cost—including charging their EV—was around £5 per month.
- Income from surplus energy: Through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), their system earns £2-£3 per day by exporting surplus energy to the grid.
- Substantial Grant Support: We secured the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant for them, making the heat pump installation significantly more affordable. The entire system was also VAT-free.
- Cleaner, healthier home: Replacing their fossil fuel boiler with an all-electric system improved indoor air quality and reduced emissions
- Optimised energy use: The integrated system ensures that solar power, batteries, and heating work together efficiently, making the home more sustainable and economical.
Why This Project Stands Out
Keith & Catharine wanted a single company that could manage the full installation—from solar panels and batteries to heating and EV charging—while ensuring all necessary certifications and government schemes were applied. We guided them through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), which provided a £7,500 grant for the air source heat pump, reducing the upfront cost and making the project more accessible.
Local Support & After-Sales Care
As a local company based in Carmarthenshire, we were able to deliver the project efficiently and remain close by for ongoing support. Our team is always available to answer questions, provide maintenance guidance, and help homeowners get the most from their renewable energy systems. Keith & Catharine now enjoy a comfortable, all-electric home with minimal running costs and a system that is ready for the future—backed by our continued support.
